Acorn Lodge

Introduction

Our home is set in peaceful tree lined street and offers seven guest rooms.
The Acorn Lodge is over one hundred years old and whilst we aim to meet the
needs of all our guests there are some period features which might make
access difficult for people with limited mobility. We are well located and have
rooms on different levels; there are 2 large steps into Acorn Lodge. Ceilings
are nice and high in most rooms and doors give nice wide access, however
we do feel are not suitable for wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

• We are located at the end of a nice quite tree lined street (Cul-de-sac).
  Our location is ideally suited to those travelling without a car.
• The nearest shops are approximately 5 Minutes away.
• The nearest bus station is within a 5 minute walk away.
• The nearest railway station is Harrogate which is located next to the Bus Station. Taxis are usually available at the station but we can book one for you in advance if required.
• There are several local taxi companies; we can make bookings in advance for you.
• We have 1 cat and regret that we are therefore unable to accommodate
  dogs.
• We regret we do not have facilites to prepare documents in braille.

Arrival and Car Parking

• Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we
  are here to welcome you.
• To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not
  normally arrive before 5pm, we do however offer an early check in facility with prior arrangement. Parking is on a level drive to the side of the Guest
  House. Please park in the furthest forward parking bays provided.
• We always offer assistance with luggage.

Main Entrance

• There are two steps of about 10 inches up to the front door.
• Normally open; please ring the door bell on your arrival.

Guest Accommodation – Public Areas

• Acorn Lodge entrance leads into a guest lounge and Guest Dining Room.
• There are 15 stairs to the first floor; there is a hand rail on one side of these stairs. The stairs are carpeted.
• We have 7 guest bedrooms 4 of which are located on the first floor (please see section “Bedrooms” for more information).
• Acorn Lodge is centrally heated throughout but temperatures can be
  adjusted in each room to suit individual requirements.
• We do provide additional heating in each bedroom should it be
  required.

Lounge and Dining Room

• Guests are welcome to use the lounge at any time.
• The lounge has two sofas, straight back chairs can be moved into there from the dining room but space is limited. This room has a television and a DVD/CD player.
• We operate an honesty Bar.
• The lounge is carpeted.
• A selection of local information, maps, magazines and board games is
  available in the lounge.
• Breakfast is served in the dining room.
• The dining room has a carpet floor.
• We are licensed for the sale of alcohol

Bedrooms

• All bedrooms are carpeted throughout.
• There are en suite facilities in 6 rooms consisting of a shower, WC and wash basin, some rooms have Jacuzzi Whirlpool Baths. 1 single room has a separate private bathroom.
• Tea and coffee facilities are provided.
• We also provide a hair dryer, sewing materials, a selection of books and magazines.
• Our beds are normally made with duvets, synthetic. All pillows are synthetic.
• There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table in each room.
• There is a folder in each bedroom which contains further information about the surrounding area and details of emergency contacts including doctors and hospitals; this is also provided at the reception.

Bedroom 1

• Bedroom 1 is to the right at the top of first flight of stairs.
• This room has a 4ft 6in double bed with access from both sides.

Bedroom 2

• Bedroom 2 is directly in front of the first flight of stairs.
• This room has a 4ft 6in double bed with access from both sides.

Bedroom 3

• Bedroom 3 is located just to the left of the first flight of stairs.
• This room has a 3ft single bed with access from one side and a separate private bathroom located down 3 steps opposite the room.

Bedroom 4

• Bedroom 4 is to the left of the first flight of stairs.
• This room has x2 3ft single beds with access from both sides.

Bedroom 5

• Bedroom 5 is located to the right on the second floor of the second flight of stairs.
• This room has 4ft double bed with access from both sides.

Bedroom 6

• Bedroom 6 is located to the right just after room 5 on the second floor of the second flight of stairs.
• This room has a 4ft 6in double bed with access from both sides.

Bedroom 7

• Bedroom 7 is located to the left just after room 6 on the second floor of the second flight of stairs.

Garden

• We have a small paved garden to the front of the guest house.
• Guests are very welcome to enjoy sitting in it at all times.
• Access to the garden is via the front door at the bottom of the stairs.

Additional Information

• There is a fire extinguisher in the entrance hall and another at the top of the guest stairs.
• In the event of a fire, the fire alarm will sound. Please advise us if you have a hearing impairment and might not hear this we can provide a
  Deafgaurd alarm.
• The building can be evacuated via the door at the bottom of the guest stairs. In an emergency there is also an exit via our kitchen which is to
  the right at the bottom of the stairs.
• We also provide fire escape ladders in each of the second floor rooms.
• We do not permit smoking in the house, but you may smoke at the front or side. Please request an ash tray.
• We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us of these before your arrival.
• We are happy to refrigerate any medication. We can also keep any perishables (such as clotted cream!) in our fridge for a limited period.
• Mobile phone reception is generally okay.
